Sunday Feb. 4, 2006 I really am not a fan of COLD but the -18 temps for the next couple days are great for us. Cranberries need to be covered with ice to protect them from the cold and this is perfect for making the large sheet of ice on each bed. Every couple years cranberry vines need to be sanded to keep fresh growth going. The sand is spread over the bed by driving dump trucks on the ice then as the ice melts the sand falls on the plant. |
